3:34 PM August 20, 2024
Dear Huntsville ISD Parents/Guardians,
We had a wonderful second day of school! As everyone continues to learn their way and find their bus routes, we predict we will have delays again today at our afternoon campus pick up lines and bus routes. We appreciate your ongoing patience as we all continue to keep safety our priority. Additionally, we request that parents of car riders to please be very careful and respectful of the neighboring residences and businesses by not blocking private driveways or intersections. Thank you so much for your cooperation and understanding.

August 19, 2024 @ 4:50 PM Back to School Delays at Campuses & Bus Loading Dock
Huntsville ISD Parents/Guardians,
At 4:50 PM buses began to leave the loading dock on their afternoon routes. Again, we appreciate everyone's patience and understanding on this great First Day of School and throughout the first few weeks of school. The addition of PreK and 5th Grade at the elementary campuses and 6th Grade to Mance Park, means there are a lot more parents dropping off and picking up making our campus lines longer than normal. Additionally, we always expect delays at the bus loading dock during the first few weeks of school while everyone gets accustomed to their new bus routes.
We apologize for any inconvenience these delays may cause you. Please plan accordingly and with everyone exercising safety and courtesy towards one another, we can make this a smooth back to school experience for everyone.

8/19.2024 @ 4:45 PM - First Day of School Transportation Update - Bus Delays
We had a GREAT first day of school! However, as you can expect, we are experiencing some long lines at our campuses for afternoon pick up and bus route delays as everyone tries to learn their way, especially our PreK and elementary riders. With safety being our top priority, we are not rushing our processes at the loading dock. We will send another notification once the buses leave the dock. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding.

The First Day of School for Huntsville ISD is Monday, August 19!!! We can't wait to WELCOME our HORNETS to school!!!
Huntsville ISD warns drivers to be extremely vigilant, especially before and after school hours. Please expect and plan for delays and extra traffic/pedestrian congestion each morning and afternoon especially during the first week of school. Parents should follow directional maps and instructions for when and where the drop off/pick up areas are. And remember our campuses have NEW start/dismissal times this school year, too!
This time of year is particularly dangerous due to the combination of young inexperienced drivers, school buses, and student pedestrians, all sharing the road. Always yield to school buses and watch for children jetting in and out of traffic. Drivers should be extra patient, respectful and safe in all school zones and around our campuses.
Please check out the Back to School Driver Safety Tips to help us keep our students safe!
