HISD Returns to Normal Operations Wednesday, January 22, 2025:
Dear Huntsville ISD Parents/Guardians and Staff,
At this time, HISD plans to resume normal operations tomorrow, Wednesday, January 22, 2025. However, should weather or other conditions in the Huntsville area require us to cancel school for safety purposes, we will notify families as soon as possible but no later than 5:30 AM. If no further notifications are received, please plan for regular school operations.

Dear Huntsville ISD Families and Staff,
HISD has been monitoring the inclement weather forecasts for our immediate area. Due to the winter storm bringing sub freezing temperatures along with expected snow and icy/hazardous road conditions, we have decided to CLOSE school Tuesday, January 21, 2025. All extracurricular activities are also canceled.
At this time, no decisions have been made about Wednesday. We will continue to monitor the conditions and communicate our plans to families as soon as a decision can be made on Tuesday. All updates will be sent to parents using the mass notification system as well as posted on the district website (www.huntsville-isd.org) and social media pages.
Students are encouraged to stay indoors due to extreme temperatures. It is unusual for the Huntsville/Walker County community to experience temperatures this cold. Hypothermia can be a great concern if you are exposed to extreme cold. Freezing precipitation/wintry mix are anticipated with the possibility of snow and ice through early next week. While it is too soon to say for sure, we are planning for normal operations on Tuesday. All Huntsville ISD Campuses & Facilities will be CLOSED for the WINTER HOLIDAY BREAK from Monday, December 23 through Friday, January 3 in observance of the Christmas & New Year's holidays.

Thanksgiving Holiday Break - District Closed Nov 25 -29
All Huntsville ISD Campuses & Facilities will be CLOSED for the THANKSGIVING BREAK from Monday, November 25 through Friday, November 29 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.
This does NOT include early release. Parents, please be sure that you have made alternative arrangements for any childcare needed during the break since all schools will be closed for the week.

HISD SECONDARY PARENTS/GUARDIANS:
The HISD Gifted and Talented Program Referral Window for students in 1st thru 11th grade is October 1st through October 31st. This year’s referral window is a little longer so don’t miss out!
Testing for grades 1-11 will occur during this Fall semester at each campus. Parents and principals will be notified of the results by December, and services for qualifying students in grades 1-5 will begin in the Spring semester while students in grades 6-11 will have course selections in the Spring and begin services in the 25-26 school year.
To refer a student for GT, please complete the referral form on the HISD website @ https://www.huntsville-isd.org/o/hisd/page/gifted-talented-program. If you have any questions, please contact HISD GT Specialist, Sarah Mallory at 435-6327.

This Friday Night is our FIRST Varsity HOME Football game and we want YOU to come help us PACK THE STANDS for the Hornets!!! Before heading to the game, please review the Huntsville ISD Stadium Rules & Expectations shared below:
ALL children 6th grade and under MUST be accompanied by an ADULT to enter the stadium and should remain with them throughout the game.
Do not hang out or block the aisles or stairways. Loitering is not allowed by the concession stands, restrooms, elevator, or underneath the stands.
Do not hang on the railing. Everyone should be seated. The GREEN chairback seats are for RESERVED ticket holders and are not for General Admission seating.
Please be respectful of others so that all fans can see and enjoy the game!

As everyone continues to learn their way and find their bus routes, we predict we will have delays again today at our afternoon campus pick up lines and bus routes. We appreciate your ongoing patience as we all continue to keep safety our priority. Additionally, we request that parents of car riders to please be very careful and respectful of the neighboring residences and businesses by not blocking private driveways or intersections. Huntsville ISD Parents/Guardians,
At 4:50 PM buses began to leave the loading dock on their afternoon routes. Again, we appreciate everyone's patience and understanding on this great First Day of School and throughout the first few weeks of school. The addition of PreK and 5th Grade at the elementary campuses and 6th Grade to Mance Park, means there are a lot more parents dropping off and picking up making our campus lines longer than normal. Additionally, we always expect delays at the bus loading dock during the first few weeks of school while everyone gets accustomed to their new bus routes.
We apologize for any inconvenience these delays may cause you. Please plan accordingly and with everyone exercising safety and courtesy towards one another, we can make this a smooth back to school experience for everyone.

8/19.2024 @ 4:45 PM - First Day of School Transportation Update - Bus Delays
We had a GREAT first day of school! However, as you can expect, we are experiencing some long lines at our campuses for afternoon pick up and bus route delays as everyone tries to learn their way, especially our PreK and elementary riders. With safety being our top priority, we are not rushing our processes at the loading dock. We will send another notification once the buses leave the dock.
