Calling ALL Hornets ~

It's time to help HISD find more CHAMPIONS to honor!!
The purpose of the Hall of Champions is to acknowledge the outstanding lifetime achievements of former Huntsville Hornets in a variety of categories. The honor reflects personal and professional accomplishments, as well as larger contributions to our society at a local, state, national, or international level. Honorees are role models and represent Champions in life - the “best of the best” among Hornet Alumni, former HISD employees and former HISD trustees. This year's chosen Champions will be inducted into the HISD HALL OF CHAMPIONS Class of 2026 during at a varsity football game this coming season.

Please submit your Hall of Champions nominations today!

The nomination deadline is Friday, August 14, 2026, to be considered for this fall's recognition.

Visit https://www.huntsville-isd.org/hoc for the instructions, nomination criteria and form.

Happy nominating!

Learning English looks like fun at our Emergent Bilingual Summer Camp! From bingo to camp games and group activities, our students are practicing English, building vocabulary, and growing their confidence — sometimes without even realizing it.

You know how it works- when students are engaged and participating, they are also developing the skills that help them connect, communicate, and succeed.

We are proud of our summer campers and the staff helping make learning meaningful and fun!

Back in February, Huntsville High School celebrated a special group of students as they headed to State for the Texas Association of Future Educators competition!
The Teach Tomorrow summit in Dallas brought together over 3500 aspiring educators from across Texas to compete in various teaching related competitions.
Opportunities like this are about so much more than competition. For many students, traveling, presenting, collaborating, and stepping into new situations help build independence, confidence, and leadership — the kind of growth that stays with them long after the competition, and trip, is over.
And now, as we look back on an incredible year, we also get to look ahead — because later this month, three HHS TAFE teams will be heading to Nationals!
Congratulations and best of luck to:
Shaun Johnson and Kamryn Case-Richardson
Lesly Reyes and Odette Torres
Trinity McMichael and Alina Mincey
We are so proud of these future educators and can’t wait to cheer them on at the national level!

And remember, we have more photos to share at the link: https://photos.app.goo.gl/A5yu9j9L46e4kPF37

Congratulations to Huntsville’s Citizen of the Year!
Earlier today, we had the pleasure of joining Mrs. Lateel Richardson and her husband, Roderick, at The Huntsville Item’s Readers’ Choice Award luncheon, where she was officially honored as Huntsville’s Citizen of the Year!

We are incredibly proud to call Mrs. Richardson a Huntsville ISD employee. She serves our district with incredible dedication every day as the Registrar for Mance Park Middle School.

Lateel is a doer, a connector, and a deeply committed volunteer whose philanthropy has touched countless lives. Beyond her work in our schools, she is the founder of the Huntsville Diamonds Cancer Team, where she channels her passion into helping others by:

Providing Financial Aid: Raising vital funds to help local cancer patients and their families cover heavy medical burdens.

Celebrating Survivors: Organizing formal banquets and networks that honor and lift up local cancer survivors.

Mobilizing the Community: Hosting local benefits to fill critical gaps in local patient care.
She also is quick to spearhead and organize a fundraiser for a family in need, activating her network of partners and helpers.

Lateel truly embodies the spirit of a servant leader. Please join us in celebrating this well-deserved honor!

And we are not done celebrating! We look forward to sharing more tomorrow as we recognize additional Huntsville ISD honorees from today’s luncheon, including Teacher of the Year and Education Administrator of the Year.

GREAT NEWS!

At last week’s Board of Trustees meeting, the administration recommended another pay increase package, and the Board unanimously approved it. This marks our 10th consecutive pay increase — all while maintaining a balanced budget through conservative, forward-thinking financial leadership.

Pay Increase Highlights:
Teachers – $3,500 pay increase for all certified teachers and specific non-certified teachers, including CTE.

Instructional Assistants – $1,750 pay increase.

All Other Job Roles – 5% pay increase.

First-year teacher pay increased to $56,000.

The Board also approved a $50 increase in the district’s contribution toward TRS health insurance, increasing the monthly contribution from $400 to $450 to help offset rising TRS insurance costs.

We are proud to continue investing in the incredible people who make a difference for students every day.

It's May, it's almost graduation time, and we really wanted to check in with members of our Huntsville High Senior Class and ask them a few questions before they left--- we couldn't interview them all, so we settled on about 25 seniors and we are bringing their answers to you here.

We originally shared this video last Thursday at our most recent Board of Trustees meeting- we hope you enjoy it at the link here: https://youtu.be/Fsjn1vgK1oc

And Seniors, we are going to miss you!!
