Substitute teachers play an important role in the education of our students. If you are a dedicated, caring individual, who enjoys working with children and believes in the vision and mission of HISD to empower all students with knowledge, competencies, and personal qualities to live and work successfully as lifelong learners and responsible citizens with a global perspective, then please take the next step and apply for a position with us!
We are looking for applicants who relate well to children as well as adults. Former teachers, registered nurses, licensed vocational nurses, business professionals, and others who enjoy working with students and are available to work during school hours are invited to apply.
To substitute teach in the District, applicants must provide proof of at least 15 completed college hours, with a minimum 2.5 GPA. Clerical/Secretarial or Instructional Assistant applicants must show proof of a high school diploma or GED. All Substitute Nurse (RN or LVN) applicants must have current licensure through State Board of Nursing.
